Hello CCO,

On behalf of the conference organizing committee (Harry VA3EC, Bob VA3RKM and myself) we are formally announcing the 3rd annual CCO Winter conference on Saturday February 4. Unlike the wholly online conferences and the many preceding years on in-person events, this one is a hybrid. You can join online or in person.

We have adjusted the start time in accord with the new format. We are working to ensure that the experience is a good one however you choose to participate. Speakers will also be online or at one of the venues.

As always, there are contests every weekend and this one seems best among the alternatives. If we're coinciding with your favourite contest: sorry! Of course you can join online and contest at the same time, just like 2BSIQ.

11:30 - 12:00  Open mic -- across both venues and online
12:00 -        Lunch arrives then or soon thereafter
12:00 - 12:45  Sticks by the Sea: CQ WW CW from VP5 -- Doug VA3DF
12:45 -  1:30  In the Doghouse: Adventures in Station Building -- Rudy N2WQ
 1:30 -  2:15  Station Automation: a Survey -- VA3MW, VE3EJ, VE3JM
 2:15 -  3:00  Contesting in Alberta -- Gord VE6SV

The venues are in Oakville and Ottawa. The Oakville location is new, and we are at the same Ottawa restaurant as before 2021. Let us know if you need directions.

Oakville Italian Club
467 Speers Road
Oakville L6K 3S4

Barley Mow
Capilano (at Merivale)
Ottawa (Nepean)

Doug VA3DF is scheduled as the lunch speaker. You munch and he talks. Doug is promising lots of palm trees. As the closing speaker, Gord VE6SV has kindly agreed to join us to talk about the experience of contesting from his fine station far to the north and west of us.

The duration for each talk is the same as in the past: 45 minutes, including questions. We'll use the chat feature of Zoom to direct online questions to the speakers. For those attending in person we'll repeat questions on Zoom so that everyone can hear them. Both sites will have A/V equipment suitable for the space. Dennis VA3WB and Bob VA3RKM and likely a few others will be on site for IT support to ensure the conference runs smoothly for all participants.

The registration process is the same as last year. Send me a direct email (my call at rac.ca, or direct to my gmail) with your call sign, name & email address. Also tell me if you'll join online or which venue you will attend in person. In response to extensive feedback, this year I'll reply to your emails to confirm receipt. The Zoom URL and other conference details will be sent to online registrants one day before the event.

Oakville attendees: Please let me know ASAP since Harry needs to know the numbers well in advance. Lunch in Oakville is being catered and we need a good turnout. The price is $30 per person (pay at the door), assuming 30 or more people attend. Menu: Chicken parmesan, bun and salad. Cash bar (no cards!).

Ottawa attendees: Order food and drink from the restaurant menu and pay them, not us. Please let us know well in advance that you will attend in person so that Bob can let the restaurant know how many to expect.

If you have any questions please send them to me, Harry or Bob. The speakers are busy preparing their talks. We look forward to seeing you Saturday February 4,
